3. COMPANY GARDENS

4. TABLE MOUNTAIN
Take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain, and enjoy this iconic natural wonder by walking on it yourself. The views over the city bowl and the V & A waterfront are priceless.

5. KIRSTENBOSCH GARDENS
These vast swathes of lawn surounded by thick indigenous forests are to be found only a stone's throw away from the city central business district. Different seasons bring different flowers into bloom.

6. GREEN POINT PARK
A beautuful park was built next to the stadium that came to be for purposes of the 2010 FIFA world cup that was hosted in South Africa. Plenty to see and do in this lovely spot near Cape Town central.

7. MOUILLE POINT LIGHTHOUSE
Also known as the Green Point Lighthouse, one of the few operational lighthouses on the South African coast. Of historical significance, it was first lit on 12 April 1824, making it the oldest operational lighthouse in SA. It was also the first solid lighthouse to be built in the country. It is lit by mains power from Eskom.

8. SEAPOINT PUBLIC POOLS
These public pools were built decades ago in the 1950's, and include an Olympic size 50m pool. This ambitious building project was part of the public works program of the time. Whether you swim or not, catching a photo of the fresh water pools on the edge of this rugged coast, is something not to be missed on your holiday. Cost at 2019 prices, is a bargainL R2 for kids; R8 for adults; pensioners enter free. Go to Camps Bay beach next, for a beach with great vibe.

9. SIMONSTOWN
Take an hours drive through the peninsula to this scenic seaside town. Enjoy lunch overlooking the harbour and then make a stop a the the nearby "boulder's penguins" sanctuary.

10. CAPE POINT
A visit to the Cape Point nature reserve is one of the things you absolutely must do on your holiday to Cape Town. This is a full day outing that includes a drive to various historical crosses and places of interest in the reserve, as well as a tram ride and 20 minute walk to see the Cape Point lighthouse and the tip of the peninsual.
